A few people know the exact meaning of upcycling and – as we are very sensitive to this matter – let’s spend a few words about this.
Upcycling, also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value. Downcycling, which is the other half of the recycling process, involves converting materials and products into new materials of lesser quality.
An average sized dog garment using fibers upcycled from PET bottles, can prevent 30 plastic bottles from becoming downcycled or worse, ending up as waste in a landfill.
